Daniel Thuijs, ESC 2019 – the SYNTAX Trial
We spoke to Dr Daniel Thuijs (Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Erasmus MC, University Medical Centre, Rotterdam, Netherlands) about the 2009 SYNTAX trial, which demonstrated the advantages of percutaneous coronary intervention with drug-eluting stents compared with coronary artery bypass surgery. We ask how the SYNTAX trial dataset has matured over the last 10 years, and what findings he thinks are most valuable and should be implemented in clinical practice.
