Francesco Santoro, EHRA 2018 – the GEIST Registry and Findings in Persistent ST Elevation
Francesco Santoro (Asklepios Klinik St. Georg, Hamburg) discusses the GErman Italian STress Cardiomyopathy (GEIST) registry – a large international, multicentre registry – and their recent findings in persistent ST elevation. They analysed patients who had elevated ST for more than 48 hours and evaluated their risk for both in-hospital complication and long-term mortality median 1.9 years after the event, as well as trends for major cardiac events. They also looked at links between takotsubo and atrial fibrillation and risk of events during hospitalisation, as well as links to diabetes, and potential steps for treatment.
Filmed at EHRA 2018, Barcelona.
